Update 8.0 - Milwaukee Edition

What's good Mil-town..

Here's the deal, I've been busy with real life n shit.. so I haven't been up on posting all of the crazy new music coming out from our refreshing local acts.

To give a little insight to a portion of our underground scene, SAFS Crew (the Milwaukee-bred Super group of 12 local MCs and Producers) has been putting out bits and tastes of their flavor by releasing a couple Crew Cuts.. Here is the group collective Chief Rocka 2010 Featuring:

Van White, Crux Holmes, Sunny Daze, Blizz McFly, Dukalion, Kid Mastermind, BlanQ, Seismic, and RTystic..

Shooting over to the Madison Scene we got First Wave making plenty of Noise as of late.. Off the top we got J Dante, an MC who has had a consistent and steady flow of greatmusic as of late and has shown that he isn't afraid to be dynamic with his latest project with producer Man Mantis (Who is ill btw), the 5-track, Whole New World EP.

Next up we got the Sean Smart 420 released First in Class EP presented by Mad-town Producer Moses. The project offers up 6 tracks all of which are produced by this astounding up and coming producer who in my opinion has created a different take on the conventional soul beats, track #4 Eli being my favorite. All of this added on top of MC Sean Smart uncanny flows and refreshing punchlines make for enjoyable 420 treat..

MTV Presents: N.E.R.D. Diary

Found some documentary type-ish on N.E.R.D. on the web.. Apparently the videos only dropped in the UK and never made their way over to the U.S.

Ah Well, Enjoy!

Local Artist Spotlight: MC Pharoh Mac & Producer DMT

Local Milwaukee Artists MC Pharoh Mac & Producer DMT are bringing to the table what a lot of Milwaukee Music seems to be missing. Instead of heavy kicks and simple rhymes for the clubs, Pharoh Mac uses lyricsim to carry all 7 tracks on this EP and covers various topics in a very refreshing way.

Their first EP together, Dream Driven EP, provides a very nice listening atmoshpere. One in which I thouroughly enjoyed. What stood out to me the most is hands down the production. DMT does a great job of providing a canvas for MC Pharoh Mac to flow to and get his message across. Also contributing is Lukas Chevako, playing guitar riffs on "I Wonder" and "One Love."

If you enjoy the likes of a Lupe Fiasco, Andre 3000, or just some straight up dope Hip-Hop, look no further. From the clever punchlines, to the Dream-like Lucid, head knocking Beats, I will definitely be looking forward to hearing more projects from these two in the near future.

Local Artist Spotlight: Mr. Logek

What up World,

I got some material from local artist Mr. Logek. The best way I
can describe this cat is he brings a street wisdom style to the
Mic. The topics this MC covers vary nicely and he brings his experiences to the table through out all of the different type of tracks.

From catchy songs like "Gettin' Cash" (One my personal favorites) to songs like "Things I know" that show reflection of a lifetime, Mr. Logek is able to bring a different style to the table that still sounds fresh.

Overall, there are enough songs in this collection for any kind
of mood you may be in. There is definitely a good balance between "party" and "knowledge", which is nice to see in a world where so much music seems to be focused on the former.
